Learn from someone who's been there, struggled
through the challenges and grown a successful
company.
Al Verrecchia
Al
Verrecchia has been a part of the Hasbro family for
the past 43 years. In 1965 Verrecchia started his
career with Hasbro as a junior accountant while
attending the University of Rhode Island. He
received his BS in 1967 and MBA in 1972 from URI.
With his determined spirit and endearing drive he
quickly climbed the ladder of success; serving many
key senior executive positions until he was
appointed President and Chief Operating Officer on
May 13, 2003.
As
CEO, Verrecchia has insured the development and
longstanding commitment to corporate social
responsibility showed in a variety of areas
including – the quality and safety of our products,
environmental, safety and health initiatives,
ethical manufacturing programs, philanthropy
initiatives, community relations, human resources,
governance and our code of conduct implementation.
“Corporate social responsibility is not simply words
on our website, but an integral part of how we
conduct our business, make decisions and set our
priorities – this is not new to us as we have been
involved in many of these areas for decades,”
Verrecchia.
Hasbro’s commitment has aided in the creation of
many corporate social responsibility and
sustainability programs. Two examples of the most
significant programs developed are, the Hasbro
Global Business Ethics Principles and the
International Council of Toy Industries CARE
program.
“I
am also proud of the work we do because as a parent
of four children and a grandparent to three amazing
grandkids, nothing is more important to me than
their safety and well being,” Verrecchia.
In
February, Verrecchia announced he will be stepping
down from his position as CEO in May, but continuing
his legacy at Hasbro as chairman of the board.

Have you ever read a great business book and then
wanted to share that knowledge with others? Have you
ever struggled when trying to apply “book-knowledge”
to practical everyday business application? Do you,
like most of us, struggle with the “knowing/doing
gap”? Do you truly understand that the level of our
individual success is directly related to the
collective minds contributing to our efforts?
Well, now you have an opportunity to participate in
an enjoyable, lively and valuable program designed
to answer these questions and give you the
competitive advantage needed in today’s cluttered
marketplace.
Our discussion will be based on “The Go-Giver" by
Bob Burg and John David Mann. This
book is available at the link to your right. There
is no charge to participate in the Business Book
Discussion Club…but, advance notice of your
participation is necessary.
Enjoy your reading and we’ll see you on the 4th.
